Overview
Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows Mr Hansom to examine and treat problems inside the knee joint through small incisions. It is used both to diagnose the cause of ongoing knee symptoms and to treat a range of underlying conditions during the same procedure, often providing very helpful clarity where imaging alone has not fully explained a patient’s persistent knee symptoms.
What the procedure involves
The procedure typically takes 20 to 40 minutes under general, regional or local anaesthetic. Mr Hansom uses a small camera and fine instruments to assess and treat the joint through keyhole incisions, often combining diagnosis and treatment in a single visit to theatre for greater convenience.

Your recovery
Most patients go home the same day and can bear weight soon after surgery, depending on the procedure performed. Please note that a knee brace may be required depending on the specific surgical findings.
